Hi Aavya. All morning Aavya sat at the door with colour powder. Red, yellow, white. Petal by petal, a big rangoli grew, round like a sun. Then little Chintu came running, barefoot, straight through the middle. Two small feet, right in the yellow. Aavya shouted, you spoiled it! Chintu's lip shook, and he began to cry. Aavya's face was hot. But then Aavya looked again. The footprints were small and sweet, pointing towards the door. Dadi smiled and said, on Diwali we draw little feet walking into the house, for Lakshmi Ma. Aavya took Chintu's hand. Together they drew more tiny feet with white powder, step, step, step, all the way inside. Aavya, sometimes a mistake becomes the best part of the picture.
