Help for parents

Short answers for the Bulbul app. It is for children aged 8 and under. A parent signs in with a phone OTP, adds the child's name, gender, and age, and the child swipes through stories.

I didn't get the OTP. The code isn't working.

The sign-up code comes by SMS to the mobile number you typed.

Check the number. It has to be a phone that can receive texts.

Wait a minute. The message is sometimes slow. Then enter the newest code. An older code will not work.

The phone needs mobile signal for an SMS. Wi-Fi by itself cannot bring a text message.

If the code still does not come, email us from the button at the bottom and include the phone number you typed.

How do I change my phone number?

The account is the phone number that received the OTP.

To use a different number, email us with the old number and the new number. We will help from there.

I forgot the parent PIN.

Parent Zone opens with a PIN you chose. That PIN is not the SMS code from sign-up.

On the screen that asks for the PIN, tap Forgot PIN? Bulbul sends an SMS code to the phone number on the account.

Enter that code, then set a new PIN.

How do I change my child's name, age, or gender?

Open Parent Zone with your parent PIN, then edit the child's profile.

You can change the first name, the gender, and the age. Age is a group: 1–2, 3–4, 5–6, or 7–8. It is not a date of birth.

Bulbul keeps the child's first name only. There is no surname, photo, or school on the profile.

How do I change the screen time?

Open Parent Zone with your parent PIN.

Set the session length to 5, 10, or 20 minutes. That is how long one sitting lasts. When that time is over, the stories stop.

What is the Time's up screen?

Time's up means the session length you chose is finished. The stories stop for this sitting.

For the next sitting, open Parent Zone with your parent PIN and choose 5, 10, or 20 minutes.

A story will not play, or it is slow.

The stories are videos, so they need the internet.

Try the home Wi-Fi. If that is weak, try mobile data.

Move closer to the router, then open the story again.

Swipe to another story, then come back to this one.

A slow connection can make the picture wait. Give it a moment before you decide it has failed.

How is my child's name used, and what do you keep?

You sign in with a phone OTP. You add the child's first name, gender, and age group so the stories can be for that child. The first name is shown on the story. It is not put in a web link.

We keep the phone number (that is the account), the parent PIN, and the child's first name, gender, and age group. Saved stories and watch history stay on the phone.

Read the privacy policy. It also links to the privacy policy for the app.

How do I delete my data?

Open Parent Zone and choose Delete account. Only a parent should do this.

You can also email [email protected] with the subject “Delete my Bulbul account” and the +91 number used in the app.

We then remove the child profile and the phone number from our systems. We aim to finish this within 30 days.

I got a new phone, or I reinstalled the app.

Install Bulbul again and sign in with the same phone number. The OTP comes by SMS, the same way as the first time.

The child's name, gender, and age group are part of the account, so they are there after you sign in.

Open Parent Zone with your PIN. If you forgot it, tap Forgot PIN? and use the SMS code.

Saved stories and watch history stay on the phone. A new phone will not have the old saved list.

Still need help?

Write to us. Tell us the phone number on the account, and what you were trying to do. Do not send the parent PIN.
