Hi Aavya. On Gurpurab Aavya went to the gurdwara with a scarf covering the head. In the big hall there were long mats on the floor. Everyone sat in one row, side by side. Next to Aavya sat an uncle in a shiny coat, and next to him, the rickshaw driver who takes Aavya to school. Aavya whispered, do they also sit together? Mama smiled. In langar, everyone sits in one row. Nobody is higher, nobody is lower. A sevadar came with hot rotis, dal and kheer, and gave each person the same. Aavya ate every bite. Then Aavya wanted to help too. Aavya carried a basket of rotis down the row, slowly, asking, roti ji? Aavya, in Guru Nanak's langar everyone is equal. And helping feels as good as eating.
